Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

March 2, 2011

Lulu’s and JT’s schools are celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday this week. JT’s school did the Seuessical for their school play and it’s debuting tomorrow night. At Lulu’s school they are doing lots of activities and I happily volunteered to do the first snack of the week. After much thought, I decided to do a trail mix inspired by One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. I made little toppers, filled treat bags with the pretzel sticks, M&Ms, raisins, cherrios, and colored Goldfish crackers. They were a huge hit. I also found a recipe from the Green Eggs and Ham Cookbook for Moose Juice (no pics of that, but it’s basically an orange sherbet smoothie, soooo good!)

FYI – The fish in the toppers were doodled by Emily Merritt from her kit, Sea Creatures, which was sold several years ago at the now closed store, {we are} storytellers.

How fun and creative! Kaylee normally dresses up for Dr. Seuss’s birthday for school, but we totally missed it this year.

oh gosh, that reminds me that Brenna is supposed to dress up for Dr. Seuss day on Friday. Will have to go figure out something- probably tomorrow night LOL I get to go make a batch of play-clay tonight for Carissa for some diorama thing they are doing in math class. I thought they weren’t supposed to assign stuff like that during the CSAP weeks, but I guess this particular teacher doesn’t follow the same rules as everyone else 😛

Cute treat-toppers and that mix does look yummy!
