My Little Man

I was looking through photos today and came across this shot of JT that Joel captured in July on a trip to the beach. It got me thinking about my boy, he’s my rock, have I ever told you that?

JT is getting so big, and tall, and it’s hard to believe he’s going to be 8 in October. I see so much potential in him, and yet, sometimes I really struggle as his mother. I often find myself completely lost as to how I can help him. He’s easily frustrated, and often bored, and it leads to disagreements already. He’s sensitive, and the people around him can really effect his mood. He doesn’t like change and doesn’t like to try new things, in fact he will fight new experiences like you’re trying to walk him off a pirate’s plank at swordpoint.

BUT, I have never known a more loving boy. He never holds a grudge, he makes friends where ever he goes. He has a passion for animals of all kinds. He’s intuitive, he’s thoughtful, and he lives a full and creative life in his head, that’s he’s been sharing with us more and more through drawing (which I LOVE).

I know he’ll do well in life as long as I can keep it together and be patient with him. He might not be a trend setter, the first to try something, or an adventurer, but he’ll be a great man someday, affectionate and talented. I mean, just look at the way he contemplates the ocean. There are a series of about 15 shots that Joel took of him just staring at the beach. Calm, peaceful, fully aware of the moment. God, he’s beautiful. I couldn’t have asked for a better kid.

What a wonderful photo, and I love your description of JT. He sounds like a complex, totally terrific kid. 🙂
