Just a Mopey Day

February 24, 2007

It’s really overcast today, not actually raining yet, but it looks like it will soon. We’ve had such weird weather, it seems all over the US, this year. So weird.

Mom’s surgery went really well, I was so suprised to see her sitting up in bed, dressed and wearing make-up when I went to pick her up from the hospital yesterday. She’s only in minor pain and seems to be handling all really well. We’ll see psychologically how she’s doing in the next few weeks when she actually has to go out in town, minus one boob. The whole thing is so weird to me (weird must be my word for the day). Mom may be this tiny little thing, 5’1” and never more than 115 in her life. But she’s been a D cup her whole life. It will be a big difference. I’m sure there are bras and things that will even her out. She’s thinking about reconstruction surgery, but that will wait until she’s done with chemotherapy. We’re really glad they were so aggresive. It looks like there were not just the two lumps they had picked up with PET scans and mamograms, but two additional areas that had just started growing as well. It appears that starting with the mascectomy was the right way to go after all.

Travel this week was exhausting. It seemed like everything that could go wrong with my equipment (LCD, laptop, powerpoint) went wrong. Ugg. The classroom was too cold, then too hot, and I’m just too pregnant and cranky to deal with participants complaining. I had no sympathy for them, LOL. I mean, if they’re hot, I’m ready to start labor! Oh well, I won’t be doing this job for much longer anyway!

Joel has some virus and is still very sick. I feel bad for him, he isn’t the type to get sick often, and he sounds terrible with his coughing. He doesn’t have insurance with his new job yet, and I flaked on signing him up for mine. I hope he doesn’t develop bronchitis or worse, that’s all we need!

I’m going to try and start my Funk It Up layout today, I’ve had all week to think about it and I’m desperately trying to avoid looking at the layouts already finished and uploaded so I don’t spoil my idea and become unintentionally influenced. Looks like the bonus is up too and I’m going to try and finsh that up.

But before I start scrapping, I’ve got to do a little Target shopping, drop over to Mom’s and check in on her, and clean some of this filthy house.

Thanks for all your prayers and support, it all means so much to us!

Ok, so was this crappy week I had something that is just going around?? yuck. I hope next week is better for everyone.
So glad that your mom handled the surgery well this time and that it looks to be the correct action to have taken. Here’s hoping for a quick recovery for her and that chemo is not too awful this time around. I hope Joel starts feeling better soon too!

You poor thing…. that’s the one part that I don’t miss about being pregnant, especially when your older kid is sick 😦

so, so happy to hear that the surgery went well & your mom is already well on the mend. (((huge hugs))) I will continue to pray for her, for you all.

Sorry to hear Joel is sick. It’s hard when our guys are sick, eh? P&PT for him!! Jason is just getting over something and ugh… Now I have it… again! Feeling like crap on a stick here.

Target shopping would be fun. I would love to do some. It’s just too bad that there’s not one located convenient to our house.

So glad to hear her surgery went well. Hope the rest of recovery & treatment goes smoothly.

I found traveling for work exhausting, and I never had to do it while pregnant. Hope you’re having a better week, and hope Joel’s better too.

Looking forward to seeing the layout! 🙂
